7 days' tour to Kathmandu from Lhasa
(without Everest Base Camp)
Day01: Fly to Lhasa ----------------------L -----------3* Xiongba-Lha Hotel
Taking morning flight into Tibet, upon your arrival, local guide will meet you and transfer you to Lhasa. On the way, you can enjoy the heart - beating highland view along the Yalu Zangbu river (the longest river in Tibet, the lower reach in India is called Brham Putra river); in the afternoon, you are free.
Day02: Lhasa sightseeing ----------------B/L -----------3* Xiongba-Lha Hotel
In the morning, visit the grand - looking Potala Palace, which was built in the 7th century for the King. In the afternoon, visit Jokhang temple and stroll in the famous local bazaar - Parkhor street.
Day03: Lhasa sightseeing ----------------B/L -----------3* Xiongba-Lha Hotel
Visit Tsepung monastery which is the biggest monastery in Tibet. Then visit Sera monastery and Tibet Museum which can give you deep impression of Tibet arts and civilization.
Day04: Lhasa to Gyangtse to Shigatse ---------B/L ------------3* Shigatse Hotel
Driving past the Gangbala pass(4800m), view the Yangdrok lake, then down by the old road to Gyangtse, visit the Karuola glacier, the Perkhor monastery in Gyangtse town. In the late afternoon, arrive at Shigatse.
Day05: Shigatse to Lhatse -----------B/L -----------Local guesthouse (shared toilet)
In the morning, visit Tashilunpo monastery, which is the biggest monastery in rear Tibet, and the permanent residence for Panchan Lhama. Inside are some stupas for the passed Panchan lhamas, and a 30 - metre high copper cast Future Buddha; then drivie along the Tibet - Nepal friendship highway westwards to Lhatse town. Before arriving, visit and touch the history of Tibet in 13th and early 14th century - the once capital of Tibet: Sakya monastery (the home monastery of Sakya - pa sect).
Day06: Lhatse to New Tingri to Old Tingri to Nyelam to Zhangmu -- B/L -- Zhangmu hotel
without going into Everest Base Camp, drive directly to Zhangmu town, the small border town inside China. New Tingri is also called "Xiegar'er", from there, if you turn southward, you can get into the core of Mt. Everest; but if you passing by it and drive directly westward, you will pass by Old Tingri (Also called Gangga town), Nyelam town to get to China/Nepal border.
Day07: Zhangmu border then Exit China to Kathmandu ---- B --- 3* Mangnang hotel
Leaving Zhangmu town and drive further 15 kilometers down to the bottom of the valley to China/Nepal friendship bridge, where you will be met and picked up by your Nepalese guide; from the border to Kathmandu, it requires about 4.5 hours
